Holding true to its promise to launch a new model at each major, international auto show, Maserati plans to pull the wraps off its new GranTurismo S Automatic at the upcoming Geneva Motor Show.
An automatic gearbox has been offered before on the sports car, but only with a downsized, 4.2-liter V-8. Now, the coupe will get the bigger 4.7-liter eight-banger, making a hefty 433 horsepower, and 362 pound-feet of torque. The new six-speed is provided by Germany’s ZF.
The GranTurismo S boasts a Skyhook suspension system featuring continuously adjustable dampers. The fast-response technology is designed to provide great driving comfort, but switch into stiffer, performance mode instantly under hard driving maneuvers.
A number of subtle but distinctive refinements have been made to the GranTurismo S Automatic’s body, including under-door mini-skirts, meant to emphasize the dynamism of the coupe, and its new, 20-inch wheels, with their trident design.
Interior modifications include the addition of a wireless Bluetooth cellphone system and an iPod audio interface.
