General Motors Company issue the following statement Sunday morning in response to ongoing media inquiries about interest in Saab AB, the bankrupt Swedish car maker that GM is in the process of shutting down.
“Following Friday’s announcement that GM will begin the orderly wind down of Saab, GM has received inquiries from several parties. We will evaluate each inquiry. We will not comment further until these evaluations have been completed,” GM said.
It is unknown how long the wind down process will take, but from GM’s perspective the sooner the better, as the sale of assets would generate badly needed cash. In its latest quarter, GM lost $1.2 billion.
