Airbags are explosive devices that need to be carefully managed.

Audi is recalling more than 6,000 model year 2009 vehicles for a defective trim cover piece that is mounted on the A-pillar.

The safety recall is expected to begin during January 2010. Owners may contact Audi at 1-800-253-2834 about safety recall number 70D4/J6.

Owners may also contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236, or go to http://www.safercar.gov. NHTSA Campaign ID Number09V484.
