Chrysler is recalling more than 24,000 Chrysler, Dodge and Jeep vehicles from the last two model years for possible brake failures.
The cars and trucks may have been built with an improperly formed clip that holds a rod to the brake booster. In some cases, the clip may be missing entirely. Either way, a complete brake failure could result.
No accidents have been reported to date.
Chrysler dealers will replace the brake booster input rod clip free of charge. The safety recall is expected to begin during January 2010. Owners may contact Chrysler at 1-800-853-1403.
They may also contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s Vehicle Safety Hotline At 1-888-327-4236 or go to http://www.safercar.gov.
