Ford teams with DUB magazine and Roush to come up with this hip-hop pony car.

For pony car fans, the first thing they might want to ask about the 2011 DUB Edition Ford Mustang is: “Where’s the pony?”

The familiar logo is nowhere to be found on the nose of the V6 coupe’s high-gloss black exterior, replaced by the DUB badge, itself a highly-recognized logo for the hip-hop generation.

The Dub Edition Mustang is a joint effort of Ford, DUB magazine and the Detroit-based tuner, Roush Industries, and together they’ve come up with a package which brings together some performance enhancements as well as distinctive appearance touches.

“The Ford Mustang is the most customized vehicle in the world, and this collaboration pushes the boundaries even further,” said Fritz Wilke, Mustang brand manager.

Appearance updates include Roush’s own front fascia and splitter, as well as quarter window covers, a windshield banner, DUB stripe package and a black interior, the latter incorporating the DUB logo, which is embroidered into the headrests.  The hip-hop Mustang is available in four colors, including black, Race Red, Ingot Silver and Grabber Blue.

Available in any of Mustang’s three body styles: coupe, convertible or glass-roof, the DUB Edition also gets unique 20-inch Pirelli wheels and TIS tires.  While the 305-horsepower V6 is factory stock, Roush has lowered the suspension and incorporated a 3.31 rear axle which, Ford says, will give the 2011 Dub Edition Mustang “spirited acceleration.”

Available with either a six-speed stick or a six-speed automatic gearbox, look for the DUB Edition to reach Ford showrooms this autumn.
