The Jeep Wrangler gets an all-new interior for 2011 featuring soft-touch materials, more features and better styling.

Looks like Jeep has lifted the interior from a regular vehicle – read that to mean something that doesn’t have the capability of a mountain goat – and put in a Wrangler.

Long known as the king of off-road vehicles, recent Jeeps have typically had interiors that looked like they were just one step above the Jeep’s World War II forebearers.

But for 2011, Jeep parent Chrysler is giving the Wrangler and Wrangler Unlimited models a new interior, two-tone on some models, with upgraded touch surfaces, occupant comfort and versatility. Also new is a body-color removable hard top for the Sahara model, replacing a black top.

We haven’t driven the new Wrangler, so we’ll reserve final judgement, but the pictures are eyepopping.

Of course none of that affect the Jeep’s ability to go roadless, unless you’re worried about dirtying the ritzy new interior after walking through mud on a remote trail.

All-new steering-wheel controls allow the driver to operate the radio, cruise control, hands-free phone and other vehicle functions while keeping hands on the wheel. A new USB device interface connects to storage devices (thumb drives and most MP3 players) for use with the vehicle’s Media Center, which now includes streaming Bluetooth audio. Twelve-volt accessory outlets have been added and a new 110-volt outlet is available to provide power similar to AC outlets in the home.

Also new is an inlay set into the passenger grab bar that says “Jeep, since 1941.”

Besides the new interior, the Wrangler gets added sound insulation as well as several new colors.

Production of the 2011 Wranglers has already begun. Jeep did not release information on pricing.
