The most powerful Jaguar sedan ever, the new XFR-S will debut in LA this month.
It’s a green scene at this year’s LA Auto Show, all manner of battery-based hybrids, plug-ins and electric vehicles scheduled for debut. But for those who like a little more go than show, don’t fret. Among the other offerings headed for the LA Convention Center, Jaguar will pull the wraps off its fastest and most powerful “saloon” car yet.
The 2013 Jaguar XFR-S is the British marque’s more functional alternative to its XKR-S coupe, both models sharing the same supercharged 5.0-liter V-8 making an impressive 550 horsepower and 502 pound-feet of torque.
In the coupe, that’s enough to deliver 0 to 60 times of around 4.2 seconds, though the sedan might lag a tenth or two because of its added weight.
Jaguar promises to keep it exclusive, only 100 of the XFR-S sedans scheduled to land in U.S. showrooms for the 2014 model-year. Based on the XKR-S, anticipate a price tag somewhere in the range of $100,000 to $130,000.
Aimed at the likes of the BMW M6 and Audi RS6, the XFR-S will add a number of other upgrades compared to the still sporty XFR. Those include larger wheels, bigger brakes a stiffened suspension and some carbon fiber exterior trim pieces – which we can just barely spot in this first official teaser image.
The LA Auto Show will see a trio of new products from Jaguar and sibling British marque Land Rover, the XFR-S making its global debut, two other models scheduled for their first North American appearances.
