Koenigsegg plans to build just six copies of the Agera One:1, at nearly $2.9 million apiece.
Tired of being limited to Ferraris, Lamborghinis and even the Bugatti Veyron when deciding which supercar to buy? Good news! Swedish-maker Koenigsegg is back in the U.S. again.
After being out of the U.S. market for a few years, the specialty maker is now partnering with Manhattan Motorcars in New York to sell its Agera R and S models as well as its new One:1 Mega.

The Agera will deliver an astonishing 1322 horsepower and 1,011 pound-feet of torque.
Koenigsegg has been making news in recent years as its Agera has been viewed as the most likely vehicle to break the top speed record for production cars. The Bugatti Veyron Super Sport is the current record holder, although that is up for some debate. A Hennessey Venom GT recently nudged past the Veyron’s 269.86 mph run with a 270.40 mph result, although nothing has been formally recognized.
Also “production” is the key phrase. Koenigsegg makes just 15 cars a year and Bugatti will produce just 450 vehicles in its nine-year run.
The Agera R features a twin-turbocharged, 5.0-liter V8 producing 960 horsepower on regular gas, or 1,140 hp using with E85. The ride comes courtesy of the Öhlins Racing Triplex suspension.
However, the real beast is the new One:1, which will deliver an astonishing 1322 horsepower – 1340 in metric terms – and 1,011 pound-feet of torque. Koenigsegg, which is using the new model to celebrate its 20th anniversary, claims the Agera will be able to top out at 280 mph.
On paper, at least, that suggests what the Swedish maker calls “the world’s first megacar” will also be the planet’s fastest production car.

Technically, the Agera One:1 likely won’t ever own the record because the arbiters of speed say a manufacturer must produce at least 30 vehicles to qualify. Koenigsegg plans to produce just six of the megacars.

The One:1 name represents the fact that the new Agera delivers a power-to-weight ratio of one horsepower per kilogram, which puts it somewhere in space shuttle territory.

It manages to deliver all of that grunt out of a twin-turbocharged 5.0-liter V-8, power being channeled through a seven-speed dual-clutch gearbox to all four wheels. An electronically controlled differential helps ensure maximum grip.
Founded in 1994 by Christian von Koenigsegg, the company rolled out its first street-legal machine eight years later, but is probably best known for the CCX introduced in 2006. An updated version, the CCXR, was later named one of the 10 most beautiful cars ever built by Forbes magazine.
