The 2015 Ford Mustang is going to cost wanna-be owners a $1,000 more than its predecessor.

Anyone wanting to saddle up a new 2015 Ford Mustang is going to have to pony up $1,000 more than last year.

This year’s version starts at $24,425 including delivery charges, which is a jump of $1,090 over the $23,335 the maker charges for the current base model.

The new Mustang goes on sale this fall, and the base model comes with a 3.7-liter V-6 producing more than 300 horsepower, although a 2.3-liter EcoBoost four-cylinder putting out 305 hp and a 5.0-liter V8 developing 420 hp are also options.

While it will cost more to get this ‘Stang out of the stable, it comes with more standard equipment than its predecessor, according to Ford, including independent rear suspension, a backup camera, a leather-wrapped steering wheel tilt and telescope, push button start and Sync connectivity system with next-generation AppLink to control smartphone apps with simple voice commands as well as a 4.2-inch color display and two USB ports.

The company declined to release any further pricing information about the new model, although it did announce that a “50 Years” appearance package is available for the new Mustang.

The package will be available for turbocharged Mustang EcoBoost Premium and Mustang GT Premium models. It includes a chrome-accented grille, round “50 Years” rear badge, 19-inch alloy wheels with all-season tires, anniversary floor mats and unique seat and door-trim stitching, Ford said.

The package has some of the elements of the limited-edition 50th anniversary Mustang, which was announced at the New York Auto Show.
