Jaguar's retro Lightweight E-Type will debut at Pebble.

It may be the world’s ritziest classic car show, but the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance has also become a must-attend event for high-line manufacturers introducing some of their hottest new models, as well.

Among the list of makers planning to use the long weekend as a venue, count Aston-Martin, Bentley, BMW, Jaguar and McLaren.

BMW, in fact, has a model to unveil specifically fashioned for the tony weekend which draws some of the world’s most affluent automotive aficionados to the Monterey Peninsula. It will auction off a one-of-a-kind i8 Concours d’Elegance Edition, proceeds going to support the Concours and the Pebble Beach Foundation.

BMW will auction off this special i8 for charity.

The special i8 model will be painted a matte grey with special brown leather upholstery, blue accents and Pure Impulse Tera World trim. It will have its BMW i8 logos embossed into the headrests, and the signatures of several key BMW personnel – including i8 designer Benoit Jacob — on the rear parcel shelf. And if that isn’t enough, the package will be completed by custom-matched Louis Vuitton luggage.

Jaguar Land Rover will make its appearance with three different models, including the Range Rover Sport SVR it is describing as the world’s fastest and most powerful SUV. This 543-horsepower bruiser recently turned an 8:14 lap time at the grueling Nurburgring.

If you’re interested, set aside $110,475 and Land Rover will have it waiting.

Then there’s the Jaguar Lightweight E-Type, which marks the first time the British maker has ever done a “re-creation” project. It fills in the gap on a 1963 project when the maker originally produced 12 of a planned 18 aluminum-bodied versions of its legendary E-Type model.  The maker’s new Special Operations unit is now producing the missing six.

Jaguar also will reveal the U.S. modified version of its Project 7, a modified version of the hot new F-Type sports car that was first unveiled at the Goodwood Festival of Speed earlier this summer. The launch of the street-legal two-seater was meant to mark the 60^th anniversary of the formidable Jaguar D-Type racers that dominated at the 24 Hours of Le. The British maker plans to produce just 250 Project 7 cars, the American version getting a full-height windshield.

The McLaren 650S Sprint gets a number of track-ready upgrades, including slicks and a roll cage.

Little McLaren has had a big presence at Pebble Beach in recent years, no surprise considering the number of potential buyers that flood to the show.  It will tease them, this time ‘round, with the new track-ready 650S Sprint. It’s exactly the sort of vehicle Pebble’s glitterati might want for a weekend run on one of the many private tracks popping up all over the country, such as New York’s Monticello Motor Club.

It fills the gap between the street-legal 650S and track-only 650S GT3, delivering better cooling for its 3.8-liter twin-turbo V-8 than the road model, as well as more downforce. The suspension has been re-tuned, there are 19-inch Pirelli slicks, a competition-spec, quick-fill gas tank, upgrade- brakes, FIA-approved roll cage and a fire suppression system, among other upgrades.

Sorry, no ejection seat for the Aston Martin Vanquish by Q, nor machine guns or rocket launcher.

Aston Martin will celebrate its long association with the timeless James Bond franchise. It plans to bring four of its customized Q models to the Concours, including versions of the Vanquish coupe and Vanquish Volante convertible. There’ll also be a Q take on the DB9 Volante and the V12 Vantage S. Each model gets distinctive paint, unique interior fittings and details such as the unique carbon fiber on the Vanquish model.

Fans of the 007 series will recall Q is the British spy agency’s quartermaster, always coming up with unique weapons for Bond, James Bond. Unfortunately, to our knowledge anyway, there are no hidden machine guns, rockets or ejection seats on any of these customized Astons.

Bentley will bring its Continental GTR-3 to Pebble Beach this year for its North American debut. The fastest-accelerating model in the British marque’s history, this big British bruiser can launch from naught to 60 in about 3.6 seconds, Bentley claims. The marque only plans to turn out 300 copies, incidentally, at $337,000 each.
