The Mercedes-Benz Pullman S600 is expected to be almost 8 inches longer than the old Maybach S62.
While it finally pulled the plug on the poor-selling Maybach line, Daimler AG hasn’t entirely abandoned the ultra-premium luxury car market. This image, used in a new patent filing, reportedly shows us what the German maker has in store for when it rolls out the new Mercedes-Benz S600 Pullman line.
With prices expected to reach as much as $1 million for an armored version of the stretch limousine, Mercedes once again plans to challenge its two British-based ultra-lux rivals, BMW-owned Rolls-Royce, and the Bentley division of Volkswagen AG.
The look of the new S600 Pullman won’t come as a shock to potential buyers. It largely follows the lines of the current Mercedes-Benz S600 – though those lines stretch on for quite some distance. The new limousine is expected to measure a whopping 21 feet, nose-to-tail. That would be nearly 8 inches longer than the old Maybach 62.
(That was shorthand for the old car’s 6.2-meter length, the Pullman measuring, in metric terms, a full 6.4 meters.)

It’s also going to see the wheelbase of the stock S-Class stretched by a full meter, or 39 inches. Beyond the sheer mass of the Pullman, the most distinctive visual features appear to be the longer rear doors and extra side windows.
The big limousine is expected to feature seating for eight – if you include the two riding up front in the partitioned chauffeur’s compartment. The second row will face rearward.
But this won’t be just a stretched party bus. Expect to see the Mercedes S600 Pullman filled with every possible automotive amenity, including plenty of safety features and any manner of creature comfort and mobile office technologies.
According to website Carscoops, which tracked down the patent image, Mercedes is talking with its long-time tuner affiliate Brabus which may take over the job of customizing the Pullman.
As for power, the standard-edition S600 relies on a 6.0-liter twin-turbo V-12 making 523 horsepower and 612 pound-feet of torque. That appears to be one option, though Mercedes could also turn to the S65’s 621-hp version of the bi-turbo twelve, and an even more impressive 738 lb-ft. That can launch the new S65 AMG Coupe from 0 to 60 in just four seconds, though the big Pullman would undoubtedly need a second or so more.

Aimed at some of the world’s most affluent clients – which likely will include folks who need a bit of extra security, Mercedes is expected to offer a heavily armored edition that could push $1 million or more, depending on how it is outfitted to deal with specific threats. Protecting passengers from IEDs and rocket grenades is a bit tougher than dealing with regular handguns.
