Bugatti President Wolfgang Dürheimer presents the sixth and final Legend "Ettore Bugatti" at Volkswagen Group Night in Paris.
The word legend is thrown around pretty freely these days, but in the case of Bugatti’s Legends Series of limited edition models, the moniker fits. The run of six “Legends” models is coming to an end with “Ettore Bugatti” edition.
“The Legends edition is an impressive part of the Veyron’s success story. Now the car has reache the finishing straight. Fewer than 20 cars are available for customers,” said Wolfgang Dürheimer, President of Bugatti Automobiles S.A.S.
The series began a year ago, when Bugatti introduced the Legends model “Jean-Pierre Wimille” in California. The “Jean Bugatti” followed at the IAA in Frankfurt and the “Meo Costantini“ at the Dubai Motor Show. The series continued earlier this year with the “Rembrandt Bugatti” at the Automobile Salon in Geneva and “Black Bess” at Auto China in Peking.
Bugatti showed off the final Legend at the Monterey Car Week in California just a few weeks ago. Owning a “legend” is not for the faint of financial heart. Each “Legends” edition carries an if-you-have-to-ask price tag of 2.28 million Euros – or just more than $3 million.
With the production of the Ettore Bugatti Legend, there are just 20 Veyron's left in the series.
The Legends models are designed to bring together some of the best attributes of the Bugatti Super Sport and Grand Sport editions.
They’re powered by an 8.0-liter W-16 engine generating 1,183 horsepower and 1,106 pound-feet of torque, which will launch the car from a dead stop to 100 kmh (or 62.5 mph) in a mere 2.6 seconds.

Of course, power alone doesn’t justify $3 million. So, Bugatti upped the ante with the already exclusive Grand Sport Vitesse with such details as a platinum-coated version of the brand’s horseshoe logo, black diamond-cut wheel rims, and a jet-black, clear-coated carbon fiber body.

With the end of the Legends series, the maker is coming to the end of the Veyron series. The most powerful, fastest and most expensive production super sports car in the world is limited to 450 units in total – 300 coupés, which are already sold out, and 150 roadsters. After all Veyrons have been built, Bugatti will start the next chapter.
