Good news Bond fans! The spy will be tooling around in another Aston Martin for the next film: a specially outfitted DB10.

With news that the next James Bond film will debut late next year, fans of the long-running spy series take comfort knowing that when 007 is on the prowl some things never change. There’ll be a worthy villain, some trick gadgets, plenty of babes, booze and, of course, an assortment of hot cars.

And taking a lead role alongside actor Daniel Craig will be a specially designed offering from Aston Martin, the DB10, which made its debut today on the 007 sound stage at Pinewood Studios just outside London. The event featured director Sam Mendes and the entire cast of the new film, to be called “Spectre.”

“In the same year that we celebrate our 50-year relationship with 007, it seems doubly fitting that today we unveiled this wonderful new sports car created especially for James Bond,” said Andy Palmer, the new CEO of Aston Martin.

With a brief respite when the Bond producers cut a deal with German rival BMW, Aston Martins have appeared in almost every one of the Bond features, starting with original 007 Sean Connery’s second film, “Goldfinger.” In fact, that classic DB5, with the license plate BMT 216A, is the rare character to make a repeat performance, showing up in six films including the most recent one, “Skyfall.”

For “Spectre,” Aston’s design team, led by Chief Creative Officer Marek Reichman, worked closely with director Sam Mendes to come up with the DB10.

But while the striking sports car may have been built specifically for the new film, a statement from the British carmaker suggests, “the DB10 gives a glimpse to the future design direction for the next generation of Aston Martins.”

All told, Aston says production will be “strictly limited” to 10 of the handmade DB10s. How many will survive the crashes and explosions that will be staged for the film remains to be seen. It’s routine to lose a number of vehicles during the shooting of a high-budget action thriller.

Over the years, the Astons produced by the James Bond series have been outfitted with an assortment of features not available in the company’s public parts catalog: machine guns, oil slick generators and ejection seats, among them. Aston and EON Productions aren’t ready to reveal what secret weapons 007 will have at his disposal in the new film.

Curiously, while Aston Martin has become inextricably linked to 007, it wasn’t the vehicle James Bon’d creator, author Ian Fleming, originally had in mind. Himself a former secret agent, Fleming’s thrillers found the hero a fan of another U.K. marque, the even more exclusive Bentley. It was described in the original 1953 novel as Bond’s “only personal hobby,” Fleming suggesting the spy liked to drive it “hard and well and with an almost sensual pleasure.”

Fleming did put Bond in an Aston, an earlier DB III, in the book version of Goldfinger. He pulled it out of the MI6 pool, however, to better look the part of a well-heeled gentleman when going to play golf with the villain.

Bond also been stuck in less luxurious rides over the decades. In fact, the very first car we saw 007 drive in a movie was a Chevrolet Bel Air convertible – in the venerable franchise’s original film, “Dr. No.” He’s had to settle for a Ford Galaxie 500 and even an AMC Hornet X – which performed a notorious bridge jump in 1974’s “The Man with the Golden Gun.”

But Aston is firmly in place as the favored ride for actor Daniel Craig’s brooding and menacing Bond.

What was, until recently, known only as Bond 24 – the 24^th film in the franchise – will see Daniel Craig return for his fourth go-round as Bond, and it is expected to continue in the same, dark vein as the previous three movies. Co-stars will include Academy Award winner Christoph Waltz, Andrew Scott, Monica Bellucci, Dave Bautista and Lea Seydoux.

The film is expected to reach screens around the world on Nov. 6, 2015.
