The 2015 Subaru XV Crosstrek was the fastest selling car in the U.S. last month. Dealers moved them out in an average of eight days.

The nasty winter weather that gripped many parts of the U.S. at one point last month didn’t deter new vehicle shoppers last month.

While most automakers posted strong gains, it’s safe to assume that it wasn’t convertibles and small cars leading the sales charge last month, it was – indeed – sport-utility vehicles and similarly capable cars blowing out of dealer showrooms.

The 2015 Subaru XV Crosstrek was the leader of the pack lasting a mere eight days on a dealer’s lot. A Subaru being among the quickest sellers in the middle of winter isn’t all that surprising. However, it has two of the fastest selling vehicles in the country, according to a Top 10 list compiled by Cars.com.

Perhaps the big surprise of the list is that Land Rover had three vehicles on it. Here’s the rest of the website’s list after the Crosstrek and the number of days it takes to move them.

  • 2015 Land Rover Range Rover: nine days
  • 2015 Land Rover Range Rover Sport: nine days
  • 2015 Audi Q3: 10 days
  • 2015 Mercedes-Benz CLA250: 10 days
  • 2015 Porsche Macan: 11 days
  • 2015 Subaru Outback: 12 days
  • 2015 Ford Mustang convertible: 13 days
  • 2015 Land Rover LR4: 13 days
  • 2015 Toyota Prius v: 13 days

While the list is rife with SUVs, there are few exceptions – Ford Mustang convertible and Toyota Prius v – that show not every part of the country was struggling with snow and cold. Land Rover having three vehicles in the top 10 movers was reflected in its overall sales, which were up 13% for the month.

Conversely, if there’s a list of the fastest sellers, there’s also a list of dogs languishing on lots around the U.S. and, according to Cars.com, the leader of that pack is the 2015 Nissan GT-R. A Nissan dealer will have that car in inventory for nearly three-quarter of a year: 260 days. It’s the runaway leader in this category, which also includes:

  • 2015 BMW M6 coupe: 199 days
  • 2015 BMW 740Ld xDrive: 193 days
  • 2015 Infiniti QX60 Hybrid: 183 days
  • 2015 Jaguar XK convertible: 137 days
  • 2015 Jaguar XKR convertible: 124 days
  • 2015 BMW 650i Gran Coupe: 119 days
  • 2015 Jaguar F-Type S convertible: 118 days
  • 2015 Kia Forte hatchback: 107 days
  • 2015 Chevrolet Silverado 2500 HD extended cab: 105 days

Like it’s stablemate Land Rover, Jaguar’s appearance on the list appeared to show up in its monthly sales results as it was down 6%. However, BMW which had three cars in the top 10 did post a 4% January jump. That said, it came in third in the luxury car sales race behind Mercedes-Benz and Lexus.

Overall sales were up last month, but it took the same number of days – 42 – to sell a new car this January as it did last January.
