Take all the Lamborghinis that have come and gone since Ferruccio Lamborghini launched his eponymous company back in 1963. Now boil them down and what might you come up with? According to the Italian automaker, it’d have to be the new Aventador LP 750-4 Superveloce, which it claims is “the most pure incarnation of a Lamborghini to date.”
It certainly is one of the fastest and most powerful, its big V-12 pumping out 750 horsepower, enough to launch the Superveloce to a top speed of 350 kmh – or just about 220 mph.
The Lamborghini Aventador LP 750-4 Superveloce made its debut on Monday night during a sneak preview ahead of the official opening of the 2015 Geneva Motor Show. The unveiling comes four years after the introduction of the original Lamborghini Aventador.
“The new Aventador Superveloce continues the Lamborghini tradition of SV models, pushing the boundaries in terms of performance and pure driving emotion,” said Stephan Winkelmann, president and CEO of Automobili Lamborghini.
Lambo engineers put a premium on slashing the weight of the Superveloce. The special version of the Aventador gets a carbon fiber monocoque with light aluminum frames. Other key components using CF include the door panels, rear wing and rockers, while other lightweight materials have been used for the fenders.
“The interior has also been completely revised with a clear focus on weight reduction,” stressed a Lamborghini statement. “The new sports bucket seats and the door panels are made of carbon and the interior’s lightweight design excludes an infotainment system (available as no cost option), carpets and certain noise insulation parts.”
All told, Lambo engineers were able to bring the weight of the Superveloce down to 3,362 pounds, a reduction of about 110 pounds compared to the standard-issue Aventador.
In turn, the power-to-weight ratio has been improved by 10% to 2.03 kg per horsepower. That is a key factor in enhancing the Superveloce’s off-the-line performance – as well as both lateral dynamics and braking.
The Aventador’s stock, naturally aspirated 6.5-liter V-12 has been redesigned for the Superveloce. The Variable Valve Timing and Variable Intake systems have been optimized, and the engine gets a new exhaust system, as well. Now able to redline at 8,500 RPMs, the package peaks out at 750 hp and 509 lb-ft of torque. And it will launch you to 100 kmh, or 62.5 mph, in a mere 2.8 seconds.

To ensure all that power hits the pavement, the Superveloce uses an all-wheel-drive system featuring the latest version of the Haldex torque distribution system. There’s a self-locking differential in the fear, and electronically controlled diff lock at the front. Meanwhile, a three-mode Drive Select system can optimize vehicle functions including engine, transmission, differential, handling and steering.

The Superveloce carries over the Aventador’s magnetorheological suspension system. But it gets a new electromechanical dynamic steering system that adapts the steering ratio to road speed.

The Lamborghini Aventador LP 750-4 Superveloce gets an all-new instrument cluster that includes a track-style G-force indicator.
The new model will reach showrooms late this spring at a price of 327,190 Euros in Europe, or US$365,886. No word yet on what it will cost State-side.
