The 2016 Toyota Mirai hydrogen fuel cell vehicle was tested by Buster Auton, director of transportation for NASCAR, at Richmond International Raceway on Thursday, April 23. NASCAR approved the Mirai to pace Saturday nightâs Toyota Owners 400 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race after a 15-minute test session. Former NASCAR driver Brett Bodine, who serves as the Sprint Cup Series pace car driver, will pilot the Mirai during the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race in Virginia.
