The 2017 Mercedes-AMG C63 S is powered by a 4.0-liter V8 putting out 503 horsepower.

Mercedes-Benz gave C-Class AMG aficionados a little glimpse earlier today at what’s to come for the 2017 model with a promise of more information to follow soon. Apparently, the future is now as Mercedes released the specs just hours later.

AMG fans can rest assured that the latest C-Class iteration follows on the high-powered traditions of its predecessors, which have made the C-Class version the best-selling AMG variant in the Mercedes line-up.

“The new AMG C63 Coupe embodies our conception of progress: It offers impressive longitudinal and lateral dynamics at an extremely high level along with improved fuel economy,” said Tobias Moers, chairman of the Board of Management of Mercedes-AMG GmbH.

The AMG C63 will make its debut at the Frankfurt Motor Show next month, officials said, adding it will be available in the U.S. next summer.

The new C63 S is lower and wider providing a better handling experience and a more aggressive looking car.

Mercedes officials pushed for a bolder look with the new coupe and it’s translated to the AMG C63. The longer hood combine with a wider frame and slightly lower body to create a very aggressive look.

Larger wheel arches combine with the aforementioned hood adorned by two “powerdomes” to create a “muscular” appearance. “The typical AMG “A-wing” front spoiler is three-dimensional, also serving as an air deflector for the three cooling air inlets,” the company said. “Additional aero flics ensure an optimal flow of air to the cooling modules, while a front splitter at the bottom of the front apron helps reduce front-axle lift.”

The look moves along the length of the car including a completely redesigned rear end with a diffuser, two chrome-plated twin tailpipes as well as a narrow spoiler on the trunk lid.

In addition to the new look, Mercedes and AMG have improved the car’s handling. The new model uses a specially designed ride control system featuring electronically controlled shock absorbers, as well as allowing drivers to select what transmission mode suits their mood at that particular moment to help improve the ride-and-handling characteristics.

The C63 is also more than more than 2.5 inches wider in the front and back allowing for the use of wider tires, providing a tighter feel on the road. However, it’s what’s under the hood that gets all the attention and the new C63 doesn’t disappoint.

The rear end of the C63 S was redesigned for the 2017 model, including adding a rear splitter, twin chromed tailpipes and a trunk-lid spoiler.

The AMG C63 is powered by a 4.0-liter, twin-turbo V8. The C63 coupe produces 469 horsepower and 479 pound-feet of torque with a zero-to-60 mph time of 3.9 seconds and a top speed of 155 mph. The upgraded S variant puts out 503 hp or 516 lb-ft. and launches from stop to 60 mph in 3.8 seconds with a tops speed of 180 mph.

Both versions of the twin-turbo V8 are mated to the AMG Speedshift MCT seven-speed sport transmission. Whether automatic or initiated by the driver using the steering wheel shift paddles, upshifts and downshifts are executed faster than in the previous model, the maker said. This increased response time is made possible by an even sportier set-up of the engine and transmission parameters.
