The sliding doors on certain model 2011-2016 Toyota Sienna minivans could open without warning.

Toyota is recalling 744,000 minivans in the U.S. to fix defectives sliding doors that may open while the vehicle is in motion.

The Japanese maker is looking for a solution to repair 2011-2016 Sienna minivans.

The company noted “there is a possibility that, under certain limited conditions, if the sliding door opening operation is impeded, the sliding door motor circuit could be overloaded, opening the fuse for the motor.

“If this occurs when the door latch is in an unlatched position, the door could open while driving, increasing the risk of injury to a vehicle occupant.”

The defect forced Toyota to recall about 838,000 Toyota minivans globally. Owners will be notified by mail January.

Toyota spokesman Victor Vanov declined to say whether the defects have been linked to any accidents, injuries or deaths, according to USA Today.

The automaker recalled 5.8 million vehicles in October that were equipped with faulty Takata airbags. The airbag ignitors could explode with too much force under certain circumstances sending metal and plastic shrapnel into the vehicle’s cabin.

Overall, Toyota’s recalled 23.1 million vehicles with the airbags since the defect came to light more than 18 months ago. The recall now involves more than 100 million vehicles and more than a dozen automakers around the world.
