Elon Musk make a boo-boo today, accidentally tweeting his phone number to 16.7 million Twitter followers today.

Even tech oriented geniuses have bad moments on social media. No, not referencing President Donald Trump, but someone nearly as prolific on Twitter, Tesla founder and CEO Elon Musk.

Musk accidentally sent out his phone number to his 16.7 million twitter followers. Apparently, he was attempting to direct message John Carmack, chief technology officer of Facebook’s Oculus virtual reality division.

“Do you have a sec to talk? My cell is …” the CEO of Tesla and SpaceX wrote in a message directed at a Facebook executive.

More quickly than he posted it, Musk deleted the tweet. However, everyone knows that the internet is forever, perhaps no one currently knows that better than Musk, the leader of SpaceX.

Of course, it was too late and screen shots of the note abound. Naturally it led to two things: people trying to call Musk and almost as many wondering what he wanted to talk to the Facebook exec.

Some believe Musk was aiming to recruit Carmack, which wouldn’t be unheard of; however, the Facebook exec attempted to quell suspicions without directly addressing Musk’s tweet. He himself tweeted, “I spent over a decade building rockets and founded the Commercial Spaceflight Federation.”

Naturally, scores of people decided to reach out and touch “the one” who tweeted out the number. Some even managed to get through and when they did, was “the one” who answered? Nope. Instead they heard a voicemail message from the video game God of War: “By the Gods you’ve done it,” it said. “Somehow you’ve found your way here to me. I offer you my congratulations and my respect.”

That being the message isn’t all that surprising given Musk has a healthy sense of humor, although a rendition of Call Me Maybe might have better option given the circumstance.

Musk has been quiet on Twitter all day. Maybe he’s been on the phone with Carmack?
