Byton plans to display its M-Byte SUV at the Pebble Beach Concours.

Byton, the Chinese-backed maker of electric vehicles, plans to use a display at the 2018 Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance, for the debut the Byton K-Byte Concept as well as its first production model.

The company’s display at Pebble Beach will also feature its M-Byte Concept sport-utility vehicle, a production version of which the company is scheduled to launch in China in late 2019 and the U.S. and Europe by 2020. The M-Byte was also displayed this past January at CES.

As a premium brand based in China that has a global reach, Byton also represents the first Chinese brand to show at the Pebble Beach, the company said. 

In addition, Byton likes to describe its vehicles are smart devices on wheels, featuring high-speed connectivity and the proprietary Shared Experience Display, or SED, a full-dash with a door-to-door screen that delivers an unmatched digital user experience.

The M-Byte SUV is expected to be Byton's first production vehicle, going on sale in the U.S. and Europe in 2020.

The Byton display at Pebble Beach will underscore how the forces of electrification, autonomy, connectivity and shared mobility are driving significant changes in the auto industry, while also demonstrating what the Concours field may look like in 40-50 years, the company said in its announcement.

The Byton K-Byte Concept is a sedan specifically designed for the age of autonomy with integrated and retractable sensors and will be featured on the Concept Car Lawn on Sunday.

Byton’s global headquarters and intelligent manufacturing base are located in Nanjing, China, while its North American headquarters, which is devoted to intelligent car experience, autonomous driving, whole vehicle integration, and other cutting-edge technologies is based in the Silicon Valley.

Byton introduced its second EV concept, the K-Byte, at CES Shanghai.

The company’s vehicle concept and design center is in Munich, Germany, and many of its designers and engineers started their careers at BMW.

Ultimately, Byton executive has said the company’s goal is to build to build premium, intelligent electric vehicles that will be considered leaders in the automotive world because of the way its vehicles integrate advanced digital technologies to offer customers a smart, sage, comfortable and eco-friendly driving and mobility experience.
