Nissan's 2017 and 2018 Pathfinders are part of a recall of 240,000 vehicles due to possible fire hazard.
Nissan announced it is recalling nearly 240,000 cars and SUVs worldwide – 215K in the U.S. – because of a fire risk. The Japanese automaker is also recommending vehicle owners park the vehicles outdoors in some cases.
According to the automaker, due to faulty seals on the anti-lock brake pump, brake fluid can leak onto a circuit board, causing an electrical short and increasing the fire risk. Should an owner see the anti-lock brake warning light for more than 10 seconds after starting the engine, Nissan recommends not driving the vehicle and to park it outdoors away from homes and other structures or vehicles.
The recall covers certain 2015 to 2017 Nissan Murano, 2016 and 2017 Nissan Maxima, 2017 through 2018 Nissan Pathfinder and 2017 Infiniti QX60 vehicles.
Nissan estimates 56% of the aforementioned vehicles have the problem. Some Muranos were recalled for the same problem in 2016.

The 2016 and 2017 Nissan Maxima is also part of the recall of vehicles with faulty brake pump seals.
The U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration hasn’t reported any fires. Nissan spokesman Steve Yaeger would not comment when asked about fires but said there have been no related crashes or injuries, according to the Detroit News.
If anti-lock brake the light stays on, owners should immediately contact Nissan or Infiniti to have the vehicle towed to a dealer, he said.

Otherwise, dealers will inspect the pump serial numbers and replace them if necessary starting Oct. 15. Most of the recalled vehicles are in the U.S., Canada and Mexico. This action follows a recent recall of 166,000 vehicles for an ignition switch issue.
Nissan said a problem with the ignition switch could cause the vehicle’s engine to shut off while driving. The automaker is asking drivers to immediately remove all objects, such as additional keys and key chains, from the ignition key ring in an effort to lessen the chances of problems.

Nissan said the recall in the U.S. covers certain 2017 and 2018 Juke, Frontier, Sentra, Versa, Versa Note, Micra, NV, NV200 and Taxi models. Drivers will be notified this month, Nissan said.
