Porsche’s relentless desire to tweak, adjust and try to perfect its vehicles is on display for 2020 with the new version of the brand’s Macan Turbo compact SUV.
The model in Porsche’s gets a new 2.9-liter twin-turbo V6 engine as well as an updated chassis and a design overhaul inside and out. The powerplant replaces a 3.6-liter twin-turbo V6. However, it puts out 434 horsepower and 405 pound-feet of torque.
The result is a compact ute that races from 0 to 62 mph in 4.3 seconds, or 4.1 seconds with the optional Sport Chrono package,and has a top speed of 167 mph. The new engine makes the new model 0.3 seconds faster in the sprint and 3 mph faster on the top end.

The new engine will also be used in the upcoming versions of the Cayenne and Panamera.It is tied to Porsche’s Traction Management four-wheel drive system via a seven-speed PDK gearbox as standard equipment.
When more speed is added, the ability to handle it often comes with and Porsche certain employed a variety of updates to the Macan chassis to help with that. The updates include new carbide coated brakes the company says offer better response and less fade than before.
Brake rotors coated in an ultra-hard layer of tungsten carbide reduce brake dust by up to 90 percent and provide sharper a response to pedal input from the driver. White calipers help visually define these brakes, underscoring the reduction in brake dust. After an initial driving period, the rotors also take on a mirror-like finish, Porsche officials note.
Additionally, there are new 20-inch alloy wheels as standard. Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM) dampers are also standard equipment.Height adjustable air suspension, Porsche Torque Vectoring Plus (PTV +) and the Porsche Ceramic Composite Brake (PCCB) are optional extras on the new model.

The Macan Turbo adopts many of the exterior changes first seen on the facelifted Macan S last year; a reshaped front bumper, new LED headlamps and a full-length light bar at the rear are the main visual updates. The Turbo model is marked out from lesser Macans by the fixed double-rear wing and sports exhaust system.
The interior updates include an Alcantara roof liner and Multifunction GT Sport steering wheel is also available as an option. The steering wheel is tied to the Macan’s infotainment system.
Porsche has added a new 10.9-inch HD touchscreen display that controls a 665-watt, 14-speaker Bose Surround Sound system as standard. As with other new Macan models, the touchscreen offers the latest version of Porsche Communication Management, which includes Porsche Connect Plus, adding an LTE telephone module, an integrated SIM card and a slot for an external SIM card, as well as a Wi-Fi hotspot and a one-year subscription to numerous Porsche Connect services including connected navigation.
Starting with the 2020 model year, the Macan also offers Qi inductive charging. This feature is included in the Smartphone Compartment, which is optionally available on all Macan models.

The new Macan will hit dealer showrooms this fall and the price tag? $83,600 excluding $1,350 for processing, delivery and handling. Porsche isn’t releasing EPA fuel economy estimates.
