Subaru’s newest special edition is fuc, well, the F.U.C.K.S. — just as it reads.

Talk about lost in translation! Subaru is red-faced after a special edition of its strong-selling Forester went on display at the Singapore Motor Show.

The new Forester Ultimate Customized Kit Special edition was created by a local distributor hoping to attract attention with its custom exterior paint job, underlighting and specially crafted interior. Well, mission accomplished! When you shine a spotlight on the car, it reveals the acronym for the newbie: F.U.C.K.S.

Uh, yup. Somewhere Homer Simpson yelled “D-OH!” as Subaru scrambled to conduct damage control from the cartoon-like mistake.

The company quickly moved to solve the problem, including sending out a letter to dealers across the U.S. addressing the issue.

Subaru sent a letter of apology to dealers in the U.S. due to the snafu in Singapore.

“We apologize for any negative feedback this may have caused. Subaru Corp. has had the name removed from the car at the Singapore Auto Show,” the company wrote in a letter to dealers that TheDrive.com, an automotive website, secured.

“We work very hard to build a strong brand image for this company and the naming of this vehicle in no way reflects the values and standards we hold true. Furthermore, we will always do our best to protect our brand’s integrity.”

The company, which enjoyed another record-setting sales year in the U.S., offered another bright spot of information: the F.U.C. … well, the “special” Forester won’t be coming to the U.S.
