Autopom! Overview

Short for “automotive peace of mind,” autopom! sells extended warranty coverage for new vehicles still covered by the manufacturer’s warranty and older vehicles. However, exotic luxury vehicles like Bentley, Ferrari and Rolls Royce are not covered by this company.

Autopom! is a broker for extended warranty plans administered by other companies like Enterprise Financial Group (EFG), Mercury Select Management Co., Royal Administration and Integrity Admin Group. This allows it to offer some of the lowest prices in the market.

If you sell your vehicle, you can transfer the coverage to the buyer for a fee, which would be mentioned in your autopom! contract. For most vehicles, there’s a 30-day/1,000-mile waiting period after the purchase of the contract for the coverage to apply.

Autopom! Extended Warranty Coverage

Autopom! has four levels of coverage – Exclusionary, High-Level, Mid-Level and Powertrain Plus – with multiple plans in each level. Some plans at autopom! offer coverage for vehicles up to 14 model years old with no mileage limit. Light commercial vehicles may have an additional surcharge.

Exclusionary

Autopom! Exclusionary plans provide comprehensive, bumper-to-bumper coverage, similar to a factory warranty. Almost every car component is covered. Exclusions are listed in your contract.

At autopom!, there are currently six Exclusionary plans with maximum coverage terms up to 7 years/150,000 miles. Plans are available in most states nationwide. There are two mechanical breakdown insurance (MBI) plans only available in California.

The MBI plans are not vehicle service contracts like the other plans but insurance policies that provide extended vehicle coverage.

High-Level

The autopom! High-Level tier includes five plans that provide the highest level of stated-component coverage for parts of the engine, transmission, drive axle, transfer case, electrical, steering, air conditioning, cooling, brakes, fuel system, and seals and gaskets.

These plans are a great option if you want comprehensive coverage but don’t want to pay for the more expensive Exclusionary plans. Some plans like the Mercury Deluxe and EFG Deluxe cover hybrid/electric components, as well. The Mercury Gold MBI plan includes coverage for audio and chassis hardware, while the Royal Premium MBI plan covers GPS in addition to the other major systems. These two autopom! extended warranty plans are only available in California.

Mid-Level

The autopom! Mid-Level tier includes three plans that cover similar parts to the lower-tier Powertrain Plus plan and additional parts in the steering and brakes systems. This makes it a good choice for people who want more than basic coverage at affordable rates.

The Mercury Silver MBI plan also provides coverage for named parts of the suspension, cooling and fuel systems, while the Royal Standard MBI covers front and rear suspension, too. However, both of these plans are available only in California. The Royal Preferred plan is the only autopom! Mid-Level plan available in most states nationwide.

Powertrain Plus

The Powertrain Plus tier currently has five plans that provide coverage for listed parts of essential car component groups like the engine, transmission, drive axle, transfer case, differential assembly, air conditioning and basic electrical systems.

In addition to the component group listed above, other car parts like the cooling and braking systems are also covered in some autopom! warranty plans. Some of these plans are available for cars up to 14 model years old. While four out of the five plans are available in most states nationwide, the Mercury Copper MBI plan is available only in California.

Additional Benefits of autopom! Vehicle Protection Plans

With autopom! extended warranties, you can choose to get repairs done at any licensed repair facility in the country. This is a huge advantage over dealer warranties that restrict you to dealer service centers for repairs.

Also, autopom! extended warranty plans can be canceled anytime if you’re not happy with your coverage. Depending on the plan, you will receive a full refund if you cancel coverage within the first 30 or 60 days. If you cancel after the first 30 or 60 days, you will receive a prorated refund minus an administrative fee.

Other perks of autopom! vehicle protection plans include roadside assistance, trip interruption coverage and rental car reimbursement. The exact terms and conditions differ by plan, so we recommend reading through online sample contracts or calling the warranty company directly for more information.

How Much Does autopom! Cost?

In general, the cost of extended car warranties is determined by multiple factors, including the make and model of your car, how old it is, the mileage, and the coverage you want.

The more expensive your vehicle is, the greater the cost. The cost of protection also goes up as the car ages. Exclusionary plans, which provide the highest level of coverage, are typically more expensive than powertrain plans, which provide basic coverage.

Our research tells us that autopom! plans generally cost between $1,500 and $4,000, but the only way to find your true price is to get a quote. You may also be able to lower your upfront coverage cost by choosing a lower deductible. However, this will increase your out-of-pocket costs when you need a repair.

Autopom! has flexible payment options. When you buy a protection plan, you can either pay the full autopom! price upfront or in low, interest-free installments and a 10% down payment over a specified period.

How to Get a Quote and File a Claim

Autopom! reviews very well for its smooth quotes process. The company offers free quotes over the phone and has an online quotes process where you can submit your contact information and vehicle make, model, year and mileage. An autopom! protection plan consultant will call back with a personalized extended auto warranty quote.

Autopom! Reviews

On ThoroughlyReviewed, autopom! is rated a solid 10. The company has been accredited with the Better Business Bureau (BBB) since 2010 and has an A+ rating. There are not many customer reviews (less than 50), but the reviews it does have average at 4.5 stars. Autopom! reviews show satisfaction with the company’s customer service and assistance with claims processing.

“Mike, the President/CEO at autopom! has been AMAZING! After being denied our claim initially, Mike contacted me and has been with me every step of the way. He took the time to personally assist me with my claim. He listened to me, he helped facilitate communication between Royal Administration Services Inc. and myself, and ultimately, the claim is being processed. I can’t thank you enough for your personal attention during this matter. Thank you, Mike and autopom!” – Larry R. on BBB

One of the few negative autopom! reviews on BBB was written by a customer who was unhappy over a month-long delay in repairs and the partial approval of their claim.

“This is the worst extended warranty company I have ever seen. They promise you everything and give you nothing. I have a 2013 Ford F-150 with 92,000 miles and needed a valve job… My mechanic submitted an estimate of $4,800, and autopom said they will only pay $2,800. That means I have to pay the other $2,000 even though I have a $100 deductible. This whole thing has been going on for a month and I’ve been renting cars to get work. The rental cars have cost me $2,000… ” – Anthony T. on BBB

An autopom! representative responded to this review saying that they were sorry that the customer’s claims experience did not meet their expectations. They also added that they would contact the plan administrator to find out the reason for the delay and the partial approval and asked the customer to contact them directly.

Conclusion: Is autopom! Worth It?

Based on the warranty company’s coverage options and customer service, we think autopom! is highly focused on providing a good customer experience and deserving of your consideration.

Unlike some car warranty companies that only “broker” contracts, autopom! does not remove itself from the claims process. Instead, consultants assist customers through any problems and help ensure that the claim is resolved in a timely and fair manner. There are an overwhelming number of positive autopom! reviews for the claims process.

Another thing we like about autopom! is that representatives do not indulge in high-pressure sales tactics when you reach out for a quote. The company also sends out a sample contract to customers to review before they make the purchase. If you’re shopping for an extended car warranty, it’s always smart to read the contract carefully before you buy to understand what repairs will be covered.

Overall, we think autopom! is a reputable extended car warranty company.
