Toyota offering Corolla Hatchback Special Edition for 2021

Toyota unveiled its new Corolla Hatchback Special Edition for 2021. It will produce just 1,500.

Toyota is offering a special limited edition of the Toyota Corolla hatchback for the 2021 model year.

The 2021 Corolla Hatchback, which will arrive in late summer, features an exclusive body kit and striking Supersonic Red paint inspired by a vehicle from a Southern California custom shop. The automaker plans to keep production limited to 1,500.

Hatchbacks are about versatility and this model offers more of it with the Enhanced Cargo Space option for all models excluding the SE Nightshade edition — also new for 2021. The new feature lowers the cargo floor, adding 6 cubic feet of total capacity behind the rear seats. This option replaces the spare tire with a tire repair kit.

The new Corolla Hatchback Special Edition boasts a muscular new look inspired by a vehicle designed by a custom shop in Southern California.

The body kit styling is matched to the Corolla Hatchback’s design, which is anchored by a muscular physique accented by chiseled character lines and simple, condensed three-dimensional highlights.

Slim, J-shaped Bi-Beam LED headlamps wrap deeply into the front fenders and give Corolla Hatchback a distinct expression. It’s functional, of course, with precise illumination. The all-LED taillamps feature a diffusing inner lens designed to highlight the car’s stout stance.

Like all Corolla Hatchbacks, the Special Edition combines the athleticism of the robust TNGA-C platform, responsive multi-link rear suspension, and the 168-horsepower 2.0-liter Dynamic Force Engine. Energetic and efficient, the 2.0-liter derives its personality from a combination of a high compression ratio, fuel injection combining direct injection and secondary port injectors, high-speed combustion and VVT-iE intelligent variable-valve timing on the intake side.

The Dynamic Shift CVT that is standard on the SE Special Edition includes simulated 10-speed Sequential Shiftmatic steps, Sport Mode and paddle shifters.

The Special Edition is powered by the 168-horsepower 2.0-liter Dynamic Force Engine.

The Special Edition isn’t the only style-enhanced Corolla Hatchback for 2021. The SE Nightshade Edition returns, adding blackout trim and blacked-out 18-inch alloy wheels. These are matched a choice of three exterior color options: Classic Silver Metallic, Midnight Black Metallic or Super White.

The 2021 Corolla Hatchback makes Rear Cross Traffic Alert with Blind Spot available and for the 2021 model year, Toyota spotlights special models in both hatchback and sedan body styles.

All 2021 Corolla Hatchback models add rear seat mounted side airbags, bringing the car’s total airbag count to 10. It also offers the usual assortment of infotainment must haves, like Apple CarPlay and Android Auto and Amazon Alexa compatibility. Upgraded system offer even more convenience features. Pricing was not made available for the new models.
