The jointly developed charging stations by BMW and Nissan are part of the reason the German maker was one of the 100 most admired companies.
Unless you are now counting Apple and Alphabet, the parent company of Google’s automotive unit, as car companies now that they have begun investing in the motor industry, Toyota and BMW were the only automakers on Fortune Magazine new list of the 100 “Most Admired” companies in the world.
Apple and Alphabet/Google, two of the world’s leading technology companies, ranked one and two on Fortune’s list of the 50 Most Admired companies.
BMW finished 18th and Toyota, the world’s largest carmaker, ranked number 28 out of all companies surveyed and was in the top 10 in both talent and running a global business in the survey.
The “World’s Most Admired Companies” survey measures nine attributes considered essential to building a successful global company, including quality of management, social responsibility, people management and global competitiveness, among others, according to Fortune.
The list, widely considered to be the definitive report card on corporate reputation, is based on company surveys and peer ratings from senior executives, directors and analysts.

The magazine, through its survey partners Korn Ferry Hay Group, said it contacted some 4,000 executives, directors and securities analysts to select the 10 companies they admired most. They chose from a list made up of the companies that ranked in the top 25% in last year’s surveys, plus those that finished in the top 20% of their industry.
“Toyota is honored to once again be recognized as a most admired company,” said Jim Lentz, Toyota Motor North America chief executive officer, in a statement.

Daimler, Honda, General Motors, Hyundai, Nissan and Volkswagen rounded out the top 10 in the automaker division.
