Mercedes teased the debut of its new E-Class Coupe with a short video; however, a leaked version of a brochure may provide a better look.
If the teaser that Mercedes-Benz released today hyping the unveiling of the 2018 E-Class Coupe is any indication, it won’t be a dramatic departure from its C- and S-Class cousins.
Much like its aforementioned family members, the E-Class couple looks shorter than the four-door model, which isn’t really a surprise. The coupe is set to be unveiled on Dec. 14.
The front of the E-Class isn’t a radical change from its predecessor and the interior shot makes it appear to look very similar to the other Benzes mentioned here. However, the rear gets a change from the last model to keep it more in line with the styling on the new C- and S-Class coupes.
The rounded rump features a taillight design that mirrors the other models.
Actually, the teaser isn’t the best way to get a look at the new E-Class. A full brochure of the new model has been leaked ahead of its debut.

Published by Belgian website AutoTijd, the brochure pictures provide some additional information that is difficult to discern from Mercedes teaser video, including some air vents not seen on previous models as well as the large 12.3-inch touchscreen for the infotainment system.
There is also a second screen where the gauge cluster would normally be, likely allowing for a configurable display for a few extra dollars or euros, depending upon where you live — just like its siblings.
The leaked brochure also lays out the various iterations and their technical specs, but they appear to be only for the European version of the new coupe. However, of the four versions described, three of them are reasonable bets to see on U.S. shores.

The taillight on the new E-Class Coupe mirrors that of its C- and S-Class cousins.
The first is the E200, which is powered by 2.0-liter four-cylinder rated at 184 horsepower and 221 pound-feet of torque. There is also the E300 that gets a tweaked version of the four putting out 180 horses and 272 pound-feet of torque. The E200 and the E300 both do the 0-to-60 mph sprint in less than 7.8 and 6.4 second respectively.
The big-boy version is the E400 4Matic featuring Mercedes’ familiar 3.0-liter V6 developing 245 horsepower from 5,250 to 6,000 rpm and 354 pound-feet of torque from 1,600 to 4,000 rpm. It goes from zero to 62 mph in 5.3 seconds.
All iterations are mated to a nine-speed transmission. The fourth model, the E220d is a diesel, which seems unlikely to come to the U.S. anytime soon given the current climate for oil burners.

Mercedes-Benz hasn’t said much about the new coupe, it’s safe to assume it will be equipped with many of the safety and technology features as the sedan, such as the Drive Pilot semi-autonomous driving aid, a full active safety suite such as adaptive cruise control with start/stop function and automatic emergency braking.
