Bollinger Motors is going to offer a four-door version of its electric sport-utility truck as well as a new color — orange.
Just a little more than a month after introducing its new electric sport-utility truck, the B1, Bollinger Motors is already on to its first variant: a four-door model.
The upstate New York-based startup released a sketch of the four-door sport-utility truck in a new color — orange.
“We always wanted to make a four-door version of the B1,” said Robert Bollinger, designer and CEO, in a statement.
“And our assistant designer Ross Compton and I developed a great sketch. The vehicle still has great proportions and its amazing off-road capabilities remain intact since we only had to stretch the chassis by 9 inches.”

Aside from the new exterior color, which will be available when the truck is launched, the new model gets two more doors. The new exit hatches make the truck longer with a new overall vehicle length of 159 inches and new wheelbase of 114 inches.
The second model will have the same class-leading ground clearance of 15.5 inches, adjustable wheel travel (+5/-5 in), approach (56 degrees) and departure angles (53 degrees) it will have a new breakover angle of 31 degrees.
Bollinger Motors unveiled its all-electric prototype sport-utility/truck in Manhattan in late July.
The lengthier vehicle now provides an additional 6 cubic feet of cargo volume for a total of 101 cubic feet. Both the two- and four-door variants will have the same battery options available of either 60 kWh or 100 kWh.
Engineering the B1 to production is underway and additional specifications and information will be made available in future announcements.

The Bollinger B1 incorporates a rugged, heavy-duty truck design with a classic, three-box look that is expected to attract traditional off-road vehicle enthusiasts. It is 150 inches wide, 76.5 inches wide 73.5 inches tall and come 50/50 weight distribution front to back and side to side. The dual-motor powertrain also full-time all-wheel drive.
The B1 features removable body panels, windows and seats that allow it to be converted from a four-seat sport-ute to a two-seat short-bed truck. The Bollinger B1 motors can produce 360 horsepower and 472 lb-ft of torque.
The production B1 will offer two lithium ion battery pack options: 60 kWh or 100 kWh, producing either 120 miles or 200 miles in range. The B1 has a 0-60 time of just 4.5 seconds and a top speed of 127 miles per hour and weighs 3,900 pounds giving it a 10.8 power-to-weight ratio.
The B1 employs an advanced chassis structure to underpin the vehicle and house its battery system and provide support for its off-roading components. The all-aluminum chassis with a high-strength, low-alloy steel rollover structure is designed for optimal off-road vehicle proportions.
The truck is likely to have at least one competitor in short order as Tesla expects to unveil a pickup sometime in the next year. Other makers are expanding their EV bases as well.

The B1 will be available through bollingermotors.com and potential buyers can reserve a spot by signing up online no money down. In early 2018 reservation holders will be able to order their B1 with a $1,000 down payment.
