The 2019 Mercedes-AMG C 43 coupe gets a bump in horsepower to 385 hp.
Mercedes-Benz continues the roll out of the new C-Class in New York. At the NYIAS, the Mercedes-AMG C 43 sedan made its world premiere in Geneva, now the C 43 coupe and cabriolet be joined by the new C-Class coupe and cabriolet for their world debuts.
Sportiness and driving pleasure have been enhanced with a sharper design, updates to the interior and exterior and new, more powerful engines. The C 300 and C 300 4MATIC models receive a new, efficient four-cylinder with a slight – 14 horsepower – increase in power to 255 hp with 273 lb-ft. of torque.
It’s mated to a nine-speed transmission that is designed to improve performance as well as fuel efficiency. The 4MATIC has an active all-wheel torque distribution of 45% to the front and 55% to the rear.
As ever, the combination of the ESP driving dynamics control system with the 4ETS electronic traction system makes regular differential locks superfluous. This saves weight and noticeably improves handling safety as well as ride comfort.

Power increases come across the board for everything C-Class in New York. The AMG C 43 Coupe and Cabriolet get the upgraded, AMG-enhanced 3.0-liter V6 biturbo engine now delivers 385 hp, an increase of 23 hp.
This additional performance lets the new C 43 Coupe accelerate from zero to 60 mph in 4.5 seconds, while the Cabriolet does the same in 4.6 seconds.
“With the new C 43 Coupe and Cabriolet, we offer our customers extensively upgraded, visually and technically distinctive entry-level options into the performance world of Mercedes-AMG,” said Tobias Moers, chairman of the Board of Management of Mercedes-AMG GmbH.
The newly updated C-Class Coupe and Cabriolet benefit from the most advanced suite of Mercedes-Benz driver assistance systems as well as a digital cockpit with a newly standard 10.25-inch central media display and optionally available 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster.

In the C 43, that cluster brings the vehicle functions directly to life with the three AMG-specific display styles of “Classic,” “Progressive” or “Sport.” Using that specific AMG menu, the driver is also able to call up a host of additional information, such as Warm-up, Setup, G-Force, Race Timer or Engine Data, to make the driving experience even sportier.
In addition, there is a digital indication of the current speed and selected gear. The manual transmission mode is identified by a yellow “M” and a prompt to shift up when reaching maximum engine speed, a touch inspired by the world of Formula 1.
The visualizations in the central media display likewise enable further vehicle functions to be experienced even better, for example with animated presentation of the driving assistance, vehicle and communication systems.
The AMG version of the coupe and cabriolet features AMG Track Pace, which provides a significantly extended and even more precise scope of functions and can be ordered as an option in combination with the COMAND infotainment system. It records more than 80 vehicle-specific sets of data (e.g. speed, acceleration) are recorded 10 times per second. The data can be used to help drivers improve their skills at the track. The 2019 Mercedes-Benz C 300 and Mercedes-AMG C 43 Coupe and Cabriolet will be celebrating their World Premiere at the New York International Auto Show in March 2018 and will go on sale in the U.S. by late 2018.
