Electra Meccanica is producing its one-passenger electric vehicle called the Solo.

Electra Meccanica Vehicles Corp., one of the emerging companies building electric vehicles, has launched production of its new three-wheeled EV.

The first single-passenger, all-electric Solo rolled off the assembly line in Canada and arrived in Vancouver, British Columbia. The new vehicle will now undergo consumer testing and verification in anticipation of commencing commercial manufacturing in September 2018 with the goal of delivering 5,000 Solos to customers by September 2019.

“This is a hugely significant day for Electra Meccanica and our talented design, engineer and production teams,” said Jerry Kroll, the company’s chief executive officer.

“This first Solo will be extensively tested and delivered to its first customer, kicking off our efforts to begin delivering thousands of these cars to our patient reservation holders in September.”

The three-wheeled solo has a 100-mile range and a top speed of about 85 mph.

The Solo is priced at $15,500 and consumers can place a fully-refundable $250 deposit by visiting EMVauto.com. The car goes from 0 to 60 mph in 8 seconds with a top speed of about 85 mph. It will travel 100 miles on a single charge.

A publicly held company, Electra Meccanica began trading on the over-the-counter exchange used by new ventures and has filed an application for NASDAQ Capital Markets. Electra Meccanica is a designer and manufacturer of electric vehicles.

The company builds the innovative, all-electric SOLO, a single passenger vehicle developed to revolutionize the way people commute, as well as the Tofino, high-performance two-seater electric roadster sports car.

Both vehicles are tuned for the ultimate driving experience while making your commute more efficient, cost-effective and environmentally friendly, according to the company’s executives. Intermeccanica, a subsidiary of Electra Meccanica, has successfully been building high-end specialty cars for 59 years at a specialty factory in Italy where the company was founded.

The Solo goes from 0 to 60 mph in about 8 seconds.

The Electra Meccanica is focused on delivering next generation affordable electric vehicles and has what it describes as a rich history in sports car design and the goal is to marry it with new technology.
