Tesla is producing just 200 of its limited edition surfboards costing $1,500 each.

Electric cars and trucks, solar roofs, rockets, tunneling equipment, a rescue sub, flame throw, er, not-a-flame throwers and now surfboards.

Is there anything Elon Musk won’t take stab at designing and manufacturing during his seemingly unused seven minutes each day?

Tesla’s latest novelty product is the Limited Edition Tesla Surfboard. The black and red shortboard gives company aficionados the ability to hang 10 without worry about battery range or potential glitches beyond the rider’s own skill level.

Designed by the Tesla Design Studio in collaboration with Lost Surfboards and Matt “Mayhem” Biolos, surfboard shaper for World Surf League Championship athletes, the company plans to build just 200 of the boards.

The new Tesla surfboard features the same colors offered by the company on its vehicles.

The board, which costs $1,500, sold out in less than 24 hours. No word yet if the company plans to expand the production run.

Tesla’s surfboard features a mix of the same high-quality matte and gloss finishes used on the company’s cars. The deck is reinforced with light-weight “Black Dart” carbon fiber, “inspired by the interiors in our cars, and featuring tonal logos in subtle contrast gloss,” the company noted.

Ever cognizant of how Tesla vehicles may be used, surfing is certainly on the list as the Model S, X and 3 can comfortably accommodate this surfboard on either the inside or outside of the vehicle, officials note. Delivery will take two to 10 weeks and the boards do not come with fins.

Not surprisingly, the board is built to boogi, uh, handle big-time swells, according to the company.

The new Tesla surfboard will arrive on your doorstep in two to 10 weeks.

Lost Surfboard’s signature “Black Dart” carbon fiber is built with a 1.5-pound, stringerless EPS Core. Using a Bio-Based Epoxy Resin, this material wraps the deck with custom woven Carbon/S-glass hybrid material–the carbon fibers run nose to tail, while S-Glass fibers run crosswise, rail to rail.

As a result, the Limited Edition Tesla Surfboard maintains the quick reaction, highly responsible, memory benefits of carbon fiber, the company says. The bottom features two layers of 4-ounce cloth, for maximum strength and dent resistance.

The board is described as a “contemporary short board scaled up and refined for performance.” The design is set up to offer superior navigation and performance in “crowded line-ups” and different types of surfing conditions. It’s easy to paddle and is 6 feet, 8 inches long and nearly 3 inches thick.
