Bollinger Motors unveils patent-pending E-Chassis. world’s only Class 3 electric platform offers commercial applications.
Detroit-area electric vehicle startup Bollinger Motors’ growth continues with the debut of its new E-Chassis.
The patent-pending E-Chassis is, according to the company, the world’s first-ever Class 3 electric platform. It’s designed to specifically for commercial vehicle applications, officials note.
“When we first built our Class 3 B1, we knew there was a commercial aspect to the platform,” says CEO Robert Bollinger. “Not only cab-on-chassis, but entirely new truck bodies can fit on our E-Chassis and help propel the world to all-electric that much faster.”

Bollinger is ready to move into production with its truck and SUV models.
Bollinger is best known for its B1 and B2 electric sport-utility and pickup truck, and the platform those were developed on is shared with the new E-Chassis. The company plans to develop future models for the new entry, but did not offer additional insight about what might be coming.
As automakers are rushing to bring electric vehicles to consumers, plenty of commercial vehicle companies are pushing to do the same. Recently, Amazon and Rivian updated the status of their partnership to build electric delivery vans for the retail giant. Plans call for Rivian, also based in the Detroit area, to build as many as 100,000 of the trucks.
Lordstown Motors, which took over the former General Motors plant there, is in the process of developing a commercial delivery vehicle as well as an estimated 6,000 orders for its battery-electric pickup truck, the Endurance. Others including Daimler, Ford and Volvo are also developing or have comparable electric offerings.

The E-Chassis is the same platform shared with the B1 Sport Utility Truck and the B2 Pickup, and it will accommodate future models and other trucks developed by Bollinger Motors. Features of the patent-pending Bollinger Motors E-Chassis include:
The Bollinger B2 is rated as a Class 3 truck, i.e. heavy duty, like a Ford F-350.

The fully customizable E-Chassis is a performance powerhouse that can be configured for a variety of uses, including front- or rear-wheel drive configurations, with or without portal gear hubs, and up to 180 kWh battery pack for longer range requirements.
The E-Chassis will be manufactured alongside the B1 and B2 trucks and made available for commercial use in 2021. The flexibility of the E-Chassis is another competitive advantage within the growing portfolio of intellectual property owned by Bollinger Motors.
