Liberty Bell Auto Protect Extended Warranty Coverage

Liberty Bell Auto Protect directly administers its own extended warranty plans. It offers service contracts for vehicles with up to 140,000 miles and plans that cover high-tech electronics. Specialists can help if you need an extended auto warranty to cover a luxury or exotic vehicle.

Plans cover 100% of the costs for parts and labor for any covered repairs. A pre-inspection is not required before coverage starts, as long as your vehicle is running before the first day of coverage. Extended warranties from this provider are not available for California residents.

Liberty Bell Auto Protect provides a sample service agreement online, so you can fully understand the terms before agreeing to a contract.

The chart below summarizes what each of Liberty Bell Auto Protect’s vehicle service contracts covers:

One thing that stands out is steering system coverage is the only additional system covered between the Platinum Plan and Platinum Plus Plan. It’s likely more components of each system are covered in the higher-tier plan, as well. If you’re interested in one of these two plans, but sure to clarify with the provider what’s covered and get quotes for each option to compare costs.

Additional Benefits

Liberty Bell Auto Protect plans come with 24/7 emergency roadside assistance, which includes:

  • Towing
  • Jump-starts for dead batteries
  • Lockout assistance
  • Flat tire changes
  • Fluid delivery

If you need transportation while your vehicle is being repaired, Liberty Bell Auto Protect provides rental car reimbursement. The sample contract states you’re covered for up to six days and a maximum of $250.

If your vehicle breaks down when you’re more than 100 miles from home, trip interruption coverage will reimburse you $50 up to three days for a hotel and other expenses while your car is in the shop.

These reimbursement costs may vary across contracts, so make sure to read your plan.

Liberty Bell Auto Protect Claims Process

If you experience a problem with your vehicle, drive it to the dealership, a licensed repair shop, or technician certified by the National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence (ASE), if possible. If the vehicle is inoperable, or if you think that continuing to drive it would be unsafe or would make the problem worse, pull over on the side of the road and use your 24/7 roadside assistance benefits to have the vehicle towed to a repair facility.

When you get to the repair shop, present your Liberty Bell membership card and explain the issue to an employee. After a mechanic has diagnosed the problem, an employee from the repair facility must contact Liberty Bell Auto Protect to initiate a claim before any repair work can begin.

Liberty Bell Auto Protect employs an in-house team that handles claims. If your vehicle breaks down during the claims department’s normal business hours (Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. EST), a repair shop employee should call the claims department to submit a claim before a mechanic begins any repairs. If your vehicle breaks down outside of normal business hours, you can use Liberty Bell Auto Protect’s after-hours messaging service.

Liberty Bell Auto Protect pays repair facilities and dealerships directly over the phone. That means you won’t have to pay for repairs out of pocket and wait for reimbursement.

If applicable, you should keep receipts for a rental car, hotel, meals and any other expenses related to your claim. You should also hold onto all receipts for routine maintenance to prove you have kept your vehicle in good working order.

Can I Cancel My Liberty Bell Auto Protect Plan?

Plans from Liberty Bell Auto Protect come with a 30-day money-back guarantee. The 30 days until a contract goes into effect are considered a “review period” when customers are encouraged to thoroughly review contracts to make sure the coverage suits their needs. If you are not satisfied with the details of your contract, you can request a refund.

Can I Transfer My Plan?

If you sell your vehicle, you will be able to transfer your extended car warranty plan with Liberty Bell Auto Protect to the new owner. If you replace your vehicle, you will be able to transfer your existing service contract to your new car, truck or SUV.

Liberty Bell Auto Protect Reviews

Liberty Bell Auto Protect has received a B+ rating from the Better Business Bureau. There are some complaints, but the BBB mostly lists positive reviews.

Here are a few Liberty Bell Auto Protect customer reviews from Trustpilot:

“After contacting numerous warranty companies before calling Liberty Bell Auto Protect, I knew they were above the rest. Having a chance to talk with [the representative], he took the time to answer all of my questions and concerns and outlined some of the differences between others versus Liberty. I have no doubt based on reviews and my first experience I made the right choice. Thank you!”

“I called regarding a quote for an extended warranty. The agent informed me of a particular coverage. I questioned the coverage as I did not understand the details of the policy. The agent became irate with me and hung up the phone. I was planning to go with this company, but the customer service was disrespectful and unacceptable.”

Conclusion: Is Liberty Bell Auto Protect Worth It?

Liberty Bell Auto Protect offers extended warranty plans that can help you avoid surprise repair bills. Unlike some of its competitors, Liberty Bell Auto Protect does not offer an extended warranty option that only includes powertrain coverage. Plans with additional benefits may appeal to drivers who prefer more comprehensive coverage, but those who just want powertrain protection may not be willing to pay for other forms of coverage.

Liberty Bell Auto Protect has received mostly positive online reviews for its extended warranty plans and customer service. If you are thinking about purchasing a vehicle service contract, we think it’s likely you’ll have a good experience with this provider.

Many companies across the U.S. offer vehicle service contracts. Costs are based on factors like the plan you choose and a vehicle’s make, model, year and mileage. That means the plan your friend or neighbor is happy with might not be the best choice for you. We strongly recommend that you contact a handful of reputable extended car warranty companies to get detailed information on the options available for your vehicle before you choose a plan.
