Ram is introducing a new small commercial van, the ProMaster City, to its lineup.
Chrysler Group’s Ram lineup is going to expand next year as the brand is adding an all-new small van in North America: the 2015 Ram ProMaster City.
No official release date has been announced for the new van, but full volume production won’t happen until 2015.
It joins the Ram ProMaster as an additional van offering for Ram and it’s designed to compete with small commercial and passenger vans, such as the Ford Transit Connect and the Nissan NV200, which will also sell as the Chevrolet City Express.
Ford’s small van is expected to sell about 40,000 units this year. The Nissan NV200 recently started volume production and is selling at a similar monthly rate as the Transit Connect.
“The Ram ProMaster City further expands the Ram Commercial truck lineup, which includes everything from vans to pickups to Class Four and Five trucks,” said Reid Bigland, President and CEO – Ram Truck Brand, Chrysler Group LLC. “As Ram Commercial continues to gain share and grow sales in the market, we will be aggressive in our goal of expanding our commercial vehicle offerings.”

The ProMaster City will be based on the Fiat Doblo, a two-time winner of the International Van of the Year award. It’s been a sales success in Europe, selling 1.3 million units.

Ram ProMaster City will encompass familiar Ram Truck styling cues and offer features and powertrains preferred by North American commercial customers. It will be built in Turkey.
