Boys never outgrow their toys. And while most men of driving age probably won’t be caught zoom-zooming with a Matchbox car, Chevrolet is giving them another way to pretend they’re Optimus Prime, in this case with the 2010 Transformers Edition of the new and wildly popular Chevy Camaro.
“When the first Transformers movie was setting box office records, we had countless customers asking to buy the Bumblebee Camaro” that played a critical role in the action film, says Chevrolet marketing director Karen Rafferty. “Now they can buy one.”
The Transformers Edition can be equipped with either a 3.6-liter V-6 or the 426-horsepower 6.2-liter V-8, and a variety of high-tech features, including Bluetooth technology, XM Satellite Radio and OnStar.
Unique to the Rally Yellow model – which is offered in either LT or SS trim – are a variety of movie-themed features, including:
* AUTOBOT® shield on the driver and passenger side panels
* AUTOBOT® shield on each of the four wheel’s center cap
* AUTOBOT® shield embroidered on interior center console
* “TRANSFORMERS” logo on driver and passenger doors’ sill plates
* “TRANSFORMERS” logo embedded into the hood rally stripes
* High-gloss black center rally stripe package
The entire package adds $995 to the Camaro’s price tag – if you can find one, that is. The pony car is one of the rare GM models that is all but sold-out right now. Maybe if you ask the Autobots for help, you just might be able to find one.
